Learning Portals: Windows to the World of Learning
Examples of Academee Learning Portals
Department for Work and Pensions Leadership and Management Portal (LAMP)
The LAMP programme provides leadership and management learning to over 50,000 managers at all levels within the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). This learning can take many forms, including workshops, open learning workbooks and elearning courses. The learning activities are designed to map onto the 47 competencies defined by the National Occupational Standards for Management and Leadership.
Due to the high numbers of participants in the programme, each manager had to be able to plan and manage their own personal development. The LAMP Gateway is a user-friendly suite of tools to facilitate this as well as minimise the administrative overhead associated with the programme.
Royal Bank of Scotland 'Best to Lead' eSurround
The 'Best to Lead' esurround was designed to complement an integrated management training solution developed for the Royal Bank of Scotland. Primarily a face to face programme, 'Best to Lead' also incorporated a number of online components to provide programme details, resources, pre-workshop activities, post-workshop evaluations and services such as online booking for coaching sessions. These online and elearning components were packaged together into a single esurround.
The overriding criterion for the design of the esurround was ease of use as a large amount of information and online tools had to be very easily accessible to large numbers of learners - with very different levels of experience working with web-based applications.
An additional criterion was to follow the RBS branding guidelines and colour schemes.
FinningShare Online Community
Collaboration is a powerful way of helping to ensure success in any learning solution. FinningShare is one example of this - developed to allow Finning engineers at various sites around the UK to share their knowledge and expertise, as well as to act as a support for a number of personal and professional development programmes.
Learning portals help individuals to identify learning needs and create learning paths to achieve results.
