Leadership and Management Portal (LAMP)
The LAMP programme provides leadership and management training to over 50,000 managers at all levels within DWP. This training can take many forms, including workshops, open learning workbooks and elearning courses. The training activities are designed to map onto the 47 competencies defined by the National Occupational Standards for Management and Leadership.
Due to the high numbers of participants in the programme, each manager had to be able to plan and manage their own personal development.
The LAMP Gateway is a user-friendly suite of tools to facilitate this as well as minimise the administrative overhead associated with the programme.
The LAMP Gateway is an online system that allows LAMP participants to manage and monitor their training and learning activities and find out information about the programme.
The participants use the Gateway to undergo learning needs analysis and obtain guidance on the activities that they should undertake. They can also download open learning workbooks and workshop notes.
Clarity and ease-of-use are key design aspects of the LAMP Gateway, with simple and uncluttered screen layouts, appropriate instructions and labelling.
